Facebook, a social networking site, has a huge amount of users who are constantly sharing links, uploading photos, and posting status updates. If you want to be able to filter the incoming information on your Facebook news feed you will need to know how to create a Facebook friend list. Friend lists are a great way to manage your friends and view only the updates that you want to see at any given time. You can create a number of different friend lists for each category, such as coworkers, friends who play Facebook games, or family, and add only those Facebook friends which apply. Once you have a friend list up and categorized you can filter your news feed and view only the friend list that you are currently interested in. Creating a friend list does not take a great deal of time and you will be able to manage the never ending stream of Facebook updates in no time.
Step 3: Filter the Facebook News Feed by Friend List
Now that you have created a friend list you can begin to take advantage of it. One way to benefit from a friend list is to filter your news feed by list. This will help you view only the updates that you are interested in and avoid all of the other random updates from your other Facebook friends. To filter your new food go to the Facebook homepage. Notice that your feed currently shows updates from all of your Facebook friends. Click on Friends, located in the left-hand side column, and click the name of your new group. This will refresh your feed and show only those updates which were posted by members of your friend list. To remove the filter simply click the Friends link again and the feed will show all of your friend's updates, regardless of friend lists.1

Before you can create a Facebook friend list you need to find the friends section of the Facebook website. First login to your Facebook account. Once you have logged in click on the Account button located at the top right-hand corner of the screen. Then click Edit Friends. This will open the area of Facebook where you have complete control over your friends. You can create friend lists from this page as well as many other useful things. On the left-hand side of the screen you will notice many links for filtering and sorting your friends, as well as inviting new friends or browsing through your entire friends list. Click on All Connections at the top of this list to view all of your Facebook friends. Then click the Create New List button at the top of the page. Step 2: Create a Facebook Friend List
Once you have clicked the Create New List button a pop-up window will appear. In this window you will create your friend list and add friends to it. Begin by typing a name in the dialog box. This will be the name of your new list and it will be used whenever you are sorting your friends or adding new friends to an existing list. The name should describe the type of friend list you are creating, such as “Family”, “Coworkers”, or “Friends Who Love Cats”.
After you have named your new friend list it is time to add friends to it. Below the list name dialog box you will see all of your friends and their profile pictures. You can either scroll through your friends and click them individually or you can search for each one by name in the search dialog box located above. Either way, go through your friends and select each friend that you want to add to your new friend list. When a friend is selected their name and picture will be highlighted in blue and a check mark will be displayed in the corner of their profile picture thumbnail. After you have selected all of the friends that you want to include on the list, click the Create List button.3
